Life Sciences Hub Wales

Background & Discovery
Life Sciences Hub Wales (LSHW) is the the ‘nerve centre’ for the life sciences eco-system in Wales. Their mission is to accelerate the development and adoption of innovative solutions for better health and wellbeing. This strategic focus wasn’t being conveyed in their current brand identity and many only associated them with their co-working facilities. They also needed a new brand identity for one of their Accelerate programme.

Creating an Emotional Connection
Our Brand Blueprint workshop enabled us to tease out what LSHW and Accelerate really do, and most importantly, the benefit to the end user. They were helping to change lives, by turning ideas into a reality. The refreshed bilingual brand identity centred around those real people whose lives had changed as a result of LSHW and partners’s work – the patients, healthcare professionals and staff within these businesses.

Implementation of the Brand
These real-life stories were captured in photography and film, then incorporated across all touch-points. The LSHW brand identity was due to launch at an event to tie in with the 70th anniversary of the NHS, and as a result, we had to produce a vast number of materials in a matter of weeks. As well as art directing and producing the case study photography and films, we worked closely with the client and venue to design and produce printed and electronic invites, an event programme, menus, table numbers, name badges, exhibition graphics, screens, escalator panels, speaker presentations and even science-themed cocktails. We also produced a 52pp bilingual annual review which was distributed at the event and brand guidelines were supplied to client.

An identity for Accelerate was also developed, ensuring that it had a distinct identity to reflect the programmer’s mission and values, but sat within the same family of brands as LSHW.
